An outdoor team activity that gives your group a chance to bond and build friendships in a relaxed, non competitive environment in a spectacular way to enhance your visit to the Rockies.  Whether you intend to add a short excursion as a quick refresher from meetings, a full day adventure for an incentive group or something unique Banff Travel and Tours can create or tailor activities to suit your time constraints and needs.

Below are a list of unique activities availble as custom tours for private groups.  Please remember that if you see something that you like but doesn’t quite fit let us know.  We can offer suggestions and help you to build something specific for your meeting, convention, incentive or family group.

Spray River And Old Quarry Wildlife Walk

Beginning directly behind the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel you will have a chance to explore a part of the Spray Valley and part of Banff’s history.  Following the old fire road look for signs of wildlife, spot birds and learn the history of early travel in this area.  Then cross the old Bridge and return along a narrow trail hugging the North Shore of the Spray River where we pass the old Quarry, visit the meeting of the Bow and Spray Rivers and see part of the Banff Springs Golf Course.  Finally we’ll stop at Bow Falls for photos before walking back to the trail head near the Banff Springs Hotel.

Fenland Trail Walk

This trail is a local favourite and offers a great escape from the town site in a very short amount of time.  Departing from your hotel in your coach your guide will take you through the evolution of Canada’s National Parks and wildlife management before arriving at the trail head.  Once on the trail, following 40 mile creek for a short distance, you will have the chance to get up close to nature and learn about the flora and fauna of Banff.  The loop trail finishes at the “Welcome to Banff” sign where everyone is welcome to get their photo taken beside Wild Bill Peyto who adorns the sign.

Add Optional Hosted Canoe Excursion!

Adding a 1 hour hosted canoe excursion to your Fenland Trail Walk will provide your group the chance to experience an authentic Canadian pastime.  After exploring the Fenland Trail you’ll have the opportunity to paddle part way up 40 mile Creek or the Bow River with your guide leading the way.  The hosted rental includes basic instruction and your guide will always be present to assist.

Duration: Add a 1 hour for hosted canoe rental

Stoney Squaw or Tunnel Mountain Mini Summit

This custom tour is a great option for visitors to “summit a peak” in the Canadian Rockies.  Tunnel Mountain and Stoney Squaw are prominent landmarks of the Banff area and local favourites for walking and outdoor activity.  The views of the Bow Valley are far more rewarding than any gondola ride as guests will earn their views by walking to the summit.  Along the trails, flora and fauna are explained and guests will have a chance to get off the beaten track for a taste of Banff’s hidden places.

Add Optional Summit Fondue!

Celebrate your mini summit with a delicious chocolate fondue!  Your guide will prepare a fondue using Toblerone Chocolate and seasonal fruit.  Everything tastes better from the peak of a mountain, even if only a mini summit!

Winter Survival Basics

This fun, afternoon mini course is perfect for anyone wanting to learn more about the outdoors and have some fun in the mountains.

Throughout your afternoon you will learn basic skills required for winter survival while snowshoeing to the tranquil setting of Vista Lake. Along the way evaluate real stories of winter survival, learn the basic skills to stay alive in the wilderness and test your knowledge with a team activity.

Finally, you will earn a Souvenir Certificate upon completion of the mini course.

Itinerary and highlights:

Learn basic survival techniques, visit a spectacular location by snowshoe and come away with a better understanding of winter hazards and safety. You will also earn a certificate of completion by completing a backcountry survival scenario. Guests should dress in ski wear including hats, mitts, and warm boots.
